GRASSES

Sideoates Grama
Bouteloua curtipendula

This mid-height prairie grass is the state grass of Texas.  When it has seed in the fall it is easy to identify since all the seed heads line up on one side.  It is found in most of the state.  It will grow on alkaline soils that are rocky and shallow.
